How to Travel by Doing Yoga

Most people admit they’d love to be able to travel more. For those who practice, or even have an interest in practicing yoga, you’re in luck.

Yoga and traveling can actually go hand in hand these days. How?

Well, most of your options probably require being a certified instructor, so getting your YTTC (yoga teacher training certification) might be a good start.

Getting certified alone can be an adventure in itself. Many yoga schools abroad cost less than those in the U.S. (and I’m assuming Canada, too) so it ends up really equaling out with flight and transportation to just use that extra money you’d be paying to get certified in some building at home, to go abroad and travel while becoming certified.

After you’ve become certified, you can actually reach out to hostels, and maybe even some hotels and retreats, and negotiate free stay for teaching free yoga lessons for the other guests. That was something I did on my last trip.

Once you build a following and reputation, you can probably start getting your flights covered to come out and teach places as well. Besides just the travel perks, it’s pretty rewarding to be able to make people feel better about themselves. Leaving your students feeling less stressed out and more relaxed is incredibly fulfilling.
